Major Causes of Conflict free essay sample
Conflicts arise from differences and when individuals come together in teams, their differences in terms of power, values, and attitudes contribute to the creation of conflicts. When negative conflicts occur, there are five accepted methods for handling it; Direct, Bargaining, Enforcement, Retreat and De-emphasis approach (Nelson, 1995).â⬠¢ Direct Approach; this can be considered as the best method of addressing conflict, it concentrates on confronting the issue head on, by looking at the issue objectively and facing them as they are. If criticism is used it must be constructive to the recipients. This approach uses the techniques of problem solving and normally leaves everyone with a sense of resolution, because issues are brought to the surface and dealt with. â⬠¢ Bargaining; this is an excellent method to use when both parties have ideas on a solution, yet cannot find common ground. Often a third party, such as a team leader is required to help find the compromise, which involves give and take on both sides, however it always ends up both sides equally satisfied. This technique is only used when it is obvious that a member does not want to be a team player and refuses to work with the rest. If enforcement has to be used on an individual, it may be best for that person to find another team.â⬠¢ Retreat; only use this method when the problem is not real to begin with. By simply avoiding it or working around it a Manager can often delay long enough for the individual to cool off. When used in the right environment by an experienced manger this technique can help to prevent minor incidents that are the result of someone having a bad day from becoming real problem that should never have occurred.â⬠¢ De-emphasis; this is a form of bargaining where the emphasis is on the areas of agreement when parties realise that there are areas where they are in agreement, they can often begin to move in a new direction.â⬠¢ Conflicts can be positive; teams require some conflicts to operate effectively. Co-operative conflict can contribute to effective problem solving and decision making by motivating people to examine a problem, encouraging the expression of many ideas, energising people to seek

An empty shell, without the human presence. Bueys stated that the suit represented a manner of protecting an person from the universe. It besides acts as a symbol of the isolation of human existences. There are intensions of the suits worn by captives, in peculiar those in Nazi concentration cantonments. In his work, Beuys developed many thoughts about harmonising the forces of nature and civilization, adult male and engineering, and art and life. SLIDE Rose IN CYLINDER One of his most celebrated plants consists of a individual rose in a calibrated cylinder. Believing that everyone could take part creatively in reshaping society, he advocated a theory of societal sculpture, in other words, society as graphics. Beuys was motivated by a Utopian belief in the power of cosmopolitan human creativeness and was confident in the potency for art to convey about radical alteration. This translated into this preparation of the construct of Social Sculpture, in which society as a whole was to be regarded as one great work of art which each individual can lend creatively. The thought as everyone is an creative person, that every individual in every title is a societal sculpturer, is really powerful. Its power lies in the fact that it is a living imaginativeness of our human potency and future development. SLIDE DEAD HARE In how to explicate images to a dead hare Beuys cradled a dead hare fondly in his weaponries for three hours, walking it around and demoing his drawings to it while explicating them to it in an unhearable susurration. The hare symbolises birth for Beuys because it is born and burrows resistance, subsequently to emerge from the Earth. Whilst transporting around the hare, he besides had his caput covered in honey and gold foliage. Beuys provinces, by seting honey on my caput I am clearly making something involved with thought. This may stress Bueys sentiment that western society is excessively rational. Bueys claimed that he preferred to explicate images to a dead animate being than to other people. Beuys answered a demand of a population waking up from the daze of its economic, societal and cultural lassitude following the war, and showed a manner to lift from the ashes that was every bit merriment as it was holistic and spiritually disputing. Beuys work served, in it s initial contact with the audience, an a recreation. His work should non be regarded merely as amusement and should be considered amonght the worlds in which it was created. SLIDE HARE CLIP Beuys s most celebrated Action took topographic point in May 1974, when he spent three yearss in a room with a prairie wolf. After winging into New York, he was swathed in felt and loaded into an ambulance, so driven to the gallery where the Action took topographic point, without holding one time touched American dirt. As Beuys subsequently explained: I wanted to insulate myself, insulate myself, see nil of America other than the prairie wolf. The rubric of the work is filled with sarcasm. Beuys opposed American military actions in Vietnam, and his work as an creative person was a challenge to the control of American art. Beuys s felt covers, walking stick and baseball mitts became sculptural props throughout the Action. In add-on, 50 new transcripts of the Wall Street Journal were introduced each twenty-four hours, which the prairie wolf acknowledged by urinating on them. Beuys on a regular basis performed the same series of actions with his eyes continuously fixed on the prairie wolf. At other times he would rest or garner the felt around him to propose the figure of a shepherd with his criminal. The prairie wolf s behavior shifted throughout the three yearss, going cautious, detached, aggressive and sometimes companionable. At the terminal of the Action, Beuys was once more wrapped in felt and returned to the airdrome. For Native Americans, the prairie wolf had been a powerful God, with the power to travel between the physical and the religious universe. After the coming of European colonists, it was seen simply as a plague, to be exterminated. Beuys saw the adulteration of the prairie wolf as a symbol of the harm done by white work forces to the American continent and its native civilizations. His action was an effort to mend some of those lesions. You could state that a calculation has to be made with the prairie wolf, and merely so can this injury be lifted , he said. .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5 , .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5 .postImageUrl , .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5 , .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5:hover , .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5:visited , .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5:active { border:0!important; } .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5:active , .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5 .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ufab6fc6abe534fc903a5a5d3234318a5:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Fractal Geometry (585 words) EssaySLIDE AMERICA CLIP

Free Essays on Three-Strikes Law
ââ¬Å"The 3-Strikes Lawâ⬠In early 1994 the state Legislature made changes to the Penal Code Statute section 667. This section, along with 1170.12, which had been approved in November of 1994, is part of the Penal Code that encompasses the ââ¬Å"three-strikes and youââ¬â¢re outâ⬠law. Without knowing the true nature of Proposition 184, the voters passed it anyways. As of March 7, 1994 if someone commits a crime that is considered a felony and they have one previous violent conviction or a serious felony such as burglary of an unoccupied dwelling they are sentenced to twice the amount of time recommended by law. They must also serve 80% of this time without the hope of getting time off for good behavior. You will find that the definition of ââ¬Å"violentâ⬠and ââ¬Å"seriousâ⬠are different and are based on the current conviction prior to March 8, 2000. Violent offenses include murder, robbery of a residence in which a deadly or dangerous weapon is used, rape and other sex offenses. Serious offenses include the same offenses defined as violent offenses, but also include other crimes such as burglary of a residence and assault with the intent to commit robbery or rape (Three, 1). Take Your Vitamins Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words - 2
Take Your Vitamins - Essay Example The foods called ââ¬Å"functional foods,â⬠or more scientifically nutraceuticals, offer greater benefits than the same standard foods do not. A really important element of the ââ¬Å"functional foodsâ⬠is that most people are probably not aware is that they are not directly regulated, at this time, by the FDA, the Food and Drug Administration. This means that no one, outside the companyââ¬â¢s manufacturing the products, are really guaranteeing the absolute safety, purity, or quality of these products. (Manore and Thompson 189) Because the nutraceuticals are not drugs, and are not really capable of being dangerous, then there is no concern about where and to what they are added. To be perfectly honest, is not safety that is in question, but, whether, or not, they are in fact beneficial. Adding vitamins and minerals to granola bars, breakfast cereals, and dairy products is well and fine, ideally designed to encourage people to purchase those products. But is that really a cunning way to get people to ââ¬Å"take their vitaminsâ⬠or a clever way to get consumers to spend more on a product that benefits are potentially questionable at best. Also, as is the hypothetical case of Judy, she considers buying the soda with the vitamins added figuring that it must be better for her. (Manore and Thompson 189) But just because the given product has newly added ingredients does not mean that the food overall is healthier for you. If your favorite fast food restaurant added all the needed daily necessity of all the vitamins and minerals to their tastiest and greasiest french fries, would you start eating those fries everyday because they are healthier?

The medieval era and The Renaissance Era Research Paper
The medieval era and The Renaissance Era - Research Paper Example The Middle age was followed by the Renaissance movement which evolved in the 14th century. Renaissance is divided in to three important periods that are the Early Renaissance, High Renaissance and Late Renaissance or Mannerism. There was a substantial turn over in arts during this period as it was given more financial attention compared to the former Era. The art groomed and flourished as the artists paid more attention to the perspective. The paintings, sculptures and drawing were realistic and a sense of emotion was expressed in the art. Human body was given immense importance. The beauty of human physique was appreciated through arts. The artists of the Renaissance movement played with colors. They applied the techniques of light, color and space used by the ancient Roman and the Greek. Their focus was more worldly and secular. The artists drew paintings that manifested the social life and routine activities of the people. The concept of linear perspective was also introduced whic h helped the artists to create illusions of space and distance on a level surface. Hence art was exuberated. The art in this Era was modernized. The paintings now exhibited man studying philosophy and math rather than praying to God. This drastic change in the field of arts was attributed to the diminishing belief of the people in religion. For instance the painting of Jan Van Eyck depicted a couple being married in a room rather than a church. Although people adopted the modern style of arts there was an indelible relation.
